Prices of bitcoin surged to a new record-highon Wednesday, surpassing the recently reached $10,000 mark, to $12,000, gainingjust over $500 since the day’s open and a gain of more than 4% overall. The digital currency rose more than 10 times from $1,000 since the start of the year. According to a report from the BPI, this move notably pushes bitcoin’s market capitalization beyond $200 billion for the first time. This comes ahead of the scheduled launch of BTC futures this weekend. With this gain, prices of bitcoin prices have doubled since the swing low seen on November 12.Meanwhile, BTC/USD traded 6.30% higher at 12,338 at06:50GMT.
